25 Years Experience

Most of my clinical experience has been in professional mobile clinic settings for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in New York, NY, San Luis Obispo, CA, Palo Alto, CA,  Chicago, Ill, Anchorage, AK, San Diego, CA.

My live-in/ homeschooling experiences have taken place in Lake Tahoe, CA, Vail, CO, Siglüfjördur, Iceland, Wrightsville Beach, NC, Harbour Island, Bahamas, Forbes Park, Philippines and St Foy, France.

During my time working in mobile clinics, I was involved in administering cognitive learning ability evaluations, consulting results with parents and prescribing a tangible course of action best suited to the students’ needs and desired results. Additionally, I mentored new clinicians guiding them to stabilize program delivery fluency and develop concise and consistent program directed questioning practices.

In home-school settings, I customize curricula, activities and lesson plans based on each student’s needs. Often, if available, I will design on-location subjects of interest. One example: While working with a student in a tropical foreign setting, I designed curriculum weighted in classic readings such as Old Man and the Sea or Moby Dick. I would weave marine biology components into the programming looking at pelagic and tidal zones.

I like to incorporate cultural research projects that are relative to the setting or living environment. In one setting my students researched the history of the Junkanoo festival an annual celebration based in the Bahamas. Each student would learn about the festival’s history, and make traditional costumes for this Bahamian celebration. Within this programming the students were guided to present concepts in engaging, easy-to-understand ways building upon performance weaknesses to performance strengths. The outcome was to deliver results that demonstrated skill improvements that increased confidence and independence.

My experience working with students recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries has helped to restore literacy and organizational skills. During the Covid pandemic, Crested Peak organized Zoom class meetings with students who were required to quarantine. We provided the guidance students needed while also working closely with teachers and faculty during quarantine.

Crested Peak Consultants collaborates with local non-profits to match High School students with myriad options for Community Service projects. This assists with the student’s hands-on, real life experiences and is helpful as they prepare for college admissions and civic community service exposure.
